The birth of the Kaiser wine

People come together when they talk

The idea for Kaiser wine arose from a conversation between the MADs and the responsible at the Bad Ischl tourism office on the occasion of the already traditional Kaiser birthday celebration. What began back in 2008 quickly developed into a success story.

Legendary: Good idea, good wine, good godfather

Tourism director Herzog contacted ski legend Franz Klammer. The top-class wine also found a top-class partner. A ski legend for a wine that is now a bit legendary itself.

Imperial birth

In November 2008 the wine christening was organized at our winery in Oggau, where over 300 guests were present. In addition to those responsible from Ischl; Mayor Hannes Haide, Tourism Chairwoman Brigitte Stumpner, Dir. Herzog, Elisabeth Riener and their team and – how could it be otherwise – the Ischl Imperial Couple. From Oggau, Mayor Ernst Schmid, Vzbgm. Peter Eibl, tourism chairman Josef Sturm, managing director Ilse Steiner, all chairmen and women, friends of the house and of course the MADs with the Siess families and dealers received the imperial honor.
After the blessing by Pastor Mag. Willi Ringhofer, the Kaiserwein for Bad Ischl was born!

Finally, in March 2009, the bottled Kaiserwein White and Red was presented at the general tourism meeting in Bad Ischl / Trinkhalle and was then officially available on the market.

Its wonderful purpose still delights all connoisseurs today: “Spread unrestricted joy at an aristocratic level.”

Tradition and modernity: a pleasure

The Salzkammergut

Picturesquely nestled between mighty mountain peaks, around crystal-clear lakes, along idyllic rivers, this not only once thrilled the emperor. Here, it seems, what counts is not speed and hectic pace, but quality of life, nature and cuisine.

Tradition at heart

Bad Ischl lies in the heart of the Salzkammergut. Its history as the emperor’s former summer residence is both obligatory and ennobling. Traditions, customs, old times – they are often celebrated here. You don’t play it, you live it.

It is a city full of historically developed cosmopolitanism. That preserved the old, but always moved with the times.

Contrasting heritage

It is the exciting contrast between old and new, the commitment to history and future that has now earned Ischl – including the Salzkammergut – the status of European Capital of Culture 2024.

Bad Ischl, a spa town as a melting pot of historically rooted and contemporary art, which is just as present here as the love of life. Simply a pleasure.

Toast the Emperor’s birthday in August with this crisp, fresh rosé. Spicy strawberry notes dance on the nose and a nice combination of fruit and acidity is fun on the palate. Vinified in steel tanks.
